As Thanksgiving Day rolls around,
It brings up some facts, quite profound.
We may think that we're poor,
Feel like bums, insecure,
But in truth, our riches astound.
We have friends and family we love;
We have guidance from heaven above.
We have so much more
Than they sell in a store,
We're wealthy, when push comes to shove.
So add up your blessings, I say;
Make Thanksgiving last more than a day.
Enjoy what you've got;
Realize it's a lot,
And you'll make all your cares go away.

Black cats and ghosts, SPIDERS too,
Clowns and WITCHES all say Boo!

Pumpkins with eyes, shiny and bright
Make us shiver on Halloween night.

October 24, 2009 5k WALK/RUN
CARIN' FOR KAREN!!
(Carinforkaren.blogspot.com)

This past summer my mom was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer. She has had a few chemo treatments and is hanging in there like a champ. Even though she is pretty sick and warn out she just keeps going, going, going, going, going and GOING!! She is AMAZING... I don't know how she does it, but what I do know is that she supports the scarfs like no one I have ever seen. It's no fair, I would look ridiculous if I lost all my hair...but not mom she looks BEAUTIFUL no matter what! (We LOVE you MOM)!

We are just giving a heads-up for anyone who would like to help support...

We are holding a 5k walk/run for her on October 24, 2009 at Sugar House Park in Salt Lake. For more information on the race you can go to carinforkaren.blogspot.com. Also, if you would like to help support and cannot make it to the race there is a donation account at Zions bank, called, "The Karen Lewis Donation." any support would be great! Please keep her in your prayers!!

Thank you!

Love,

Lacee and family xoxo

Children

Two tiny hands to guide and hold,
Two tiny lives to shape and mold;
Each child, a gift from God above,
A symbol of His strength and love.

Temekula LOVES her baby brotherDaddy's interview (I don't think we'll have a problem seeing Beckhams teeth coming in.:))Labor Day: BYU vs. OKLAHOMA wahoo!!, COOKIE DOUGH, SMARTIES, FOOD, LAUGHS, CHIT CHAT, SMILES, BBQ, TEETH OR... NO TEETH, CRAWLING, JUMPING, MOVIES, NO SLEEP, SETTLERS, MUSIC, GOOD WEATHER, FAMILY.

I think this was one of the most exciting parenting moments. I remember every feeling/emotion of loosing teeth and we were able to experience that with Temekula this weekend. BITTER SWEET, but pretty much AWESOME. Her daddy wiggled and wobbled it and then I gave it a try and it came out and she didn't budge so I tricked her and said, "hold still this might hurt" and then I pretended to pull and said, "did that hurt?" she had the saddest look and said, "YES" and I said, "hmmmm that's weird, because IT'S ALREADY OUT." haha we all busted up laughing. She's doesn't give her self enough credit, she claims her weakness before it's even time haha! XOXO

HE'S CRAWLING, ROLLING, BLABBERING,SMILING, LAUGHING, BLOWING BUBBLES AND JUST SO DANG CUTE!!! 6 1/2 months
MY SWEET LITTLE FAM
When it comes to SUNDAY NAPS, Beckhams already like his daddy!!:)

KINDERGARTEN

She started school this morning,
And she seemed so very small.
As I walked there beside her
In the Kindergarten hall.

And as she took her place beside
the others in the class,
I realized how all too soon
Those first few years can pass.

Remembering, I saw her as
She first learned how to walk.
The words that we alone made out
When she began to talk.

This little girl so much absorbed
In learning how to write.
It seems as though she must have grown
To girlhood overnight.

My eyes were blurred but hastily
I brushed the tears away
Lest by some word or sign of mine
I spoil her first big day

Oh how I longed to stay with her
And keep her by the hand
To lead her through the places
That she couldn't understand.

And something closely kin to fear
Was mingled with my pride.
I knew she would no longer be
A baby by my side.

But she must have her chance to live,
To work her problems out,
The privilege to grow and learn
What life is all about.

And I must share my little girl
With friends and work and play;
She's not a baby anymore --
She's in Kindergarten today.

6 months -ARMY CRAWL

video video

It's been about a week now that Beckham decided to move instead of cry. I wouldn't consider this a crawl, but it still melts my heart how fast he is growing. TemeKula didn't attempt this move until she was nine months. haha I figured my kids were fat and content, but Beckham might have an active side to him some day:)SORRY you'll have to watch my horrible edited movies once again. One of these days I'll look into another way to downloading them.

Hobble Creek Half Marathon

  • Thank you Amber for calling me Thursday with no training to run Saturday

  • Thank you sweater for keeping me warm during the ONE MILE walk to the starting line.
  • Thank you Hubby for forgiving me when I lost your Ipod plug in the stampede.
  • Thank you ground for catching my fall when I felt like I weighed 1000 lbs.
  • Thank you Amber for peeing your pants laughing while I was enduring my embarrassing moment on the ground.
  • Thank you TemeKula for letting me borrow your tiny earplugs even though they didn't fit. OOPS
  • Thank you cheerleaders big and small for the encouragement along the way.
  • Thank you cones for marking the way even if I wanted to knock you down at mile one.
  • Thank you runners for your support and fun environment.
  • Thank you Amber for pushing me so hard and not giving up on me even if I cursed you along the way.

MMM', Cherry Chip cake at Nanas, LOTS OF PRESENTS, best of all daddy gave in to letting me have MAKEUP for my birthday! AWW
TEE BALL : Way better then soccer you don't get tackled by the swarm:)

Beckham is infatuated with water and food!! Needless to say the Doc says hes a little high on the charts so maybe only give him food as a dessert. Sorry little baby mamas milk for now:( He's also become a thumb sucker! (UH-OH.)

video
Beckham loves the water!! Maybe not the biggest fan about being dunked at 5 months, but he loves to splash and play in it. Poor little guy is teething and MISERABLE! I've heard so many great stories about feeding your baby rice cereal to get them to sleep through the night and I was in dire need of a good nights rest despite what the Doctor had to say about weight:) HE LOVED IT and couldn't get enough!! As for how well the night went he woke up EVERY HOUR AND A HALF!! Thank you research, Beckham is the .01 percent that doesn't experience the full tummy and good nights rest. I read BABY WISE and he slept 10 1/2 hours. GREAT BOOK to skim through and get ideas!!
My mom was recently diagnosed with lymphoma cancer this June. Please keep her in your prayers!! She's had four treatments of Chemo, but still has a long road ahead of her! XOXOCousins: Beckham and Breashas boysLOVE LOVE LOVE SUMMER TIME!!!

I couldn't resist-These videos crack me up. Easily Entertained!! Sorry I don't have a program to encode the videos from my camera. You'll have to live with the water mark for now!!

JUNE

My sweet little Meka graduated from the
University of Utah's Preschool June 13th. We had a
really good year and look forward to starting
Kindergarten in the fall.

This is Meka's best friend Leah! Meka started crying because Leah gets to marry Emerson first. Meka's plan was to marry Emerson and have Leah marry Beckham so they could be sisters. (WOW I don't remember caring so much about getting married at age 4 :( )

For family night a couple of our friends
got tickets to the BEES game.

FATHERS DAY:
The father of our home leads our family with wisdom's light and all that's right; My fathers good to me. The father of our ward tends with loving care each members needs with kindly deeds; Our bishops always there. And now we'll sing great praise and reverently recall the Holy one who gave his son; the Father of us all! Fathers are so special with a very special love. They watch us and protect us. They guide us and direct us back to our home above!

I'm so grateful that Brady came into my life and even more grateful that my children have such an amazing father. I'm so lucky to have the priesthood in my home and someone to share my dreams and future with. Brady has been so good to us since day one and has been so excepting and loving. I'm so grateful for the unconditional love he has given TemeKula and the way he wants her to become someone special and important! I love seeing him with Beckham and the way he lights up every time he sees him. (Even if i get a little jealous :)) I'm so excited to see our family grow and to be able to do it together means so much more. xoxo

I am so grateful for Jim my father-in-law. He always knows how to make you smile and say something encouraging. He's unselfish, kind, compassionate, wise, generous, supportive, forgiving, excepting, sincere, dependable, hardworking, loving, humorous. He's done such an amazing job with his family. (BRENDA ALSO!!) I am so lucky to have such an amazing father-in-law. Brady has learned so many life lessons from his dad and seen through example of what he has to do to rear his children and family to have ultimate happiness!! Thank you Jim for always being there for my family and I! You've been a second dad to me and I am so grateful to have you in my life!

I don't have any pictures of my dad or recent memories of my dad, but I love him and I'm grateful for the childhood he gave me. He was always coming up with new fun and creative activities that we could do. He loved camping, teaching us to drive the truck (when we were 10 in Washington Fields), let us play office for hours while he worked on the computer, let us go to work with him and help on the houses, took us grocery shopping, bought me fake nails in Kindergarten (NO I WOULD NEVER LET TEMEKULA WEAR NAILS TO KINDERGARTEN:). XOXO

SOCCER
Our first attempt at sports. I twirled my way through life
and decided I wanted my kids to try everything and
have the choice of the one thing they love most if and only
if they give it their all!! POOR Meka ended up with my
coordination and love for dance and girly things. Our first
game ended in tears, and some how Brady becoming the new
assistant coach. Brady and I both had no idea what to expect
from this, but actually learned a lot from one game! Every
game she gains more confidence in her self. She trots like
a pretty little pony and if the ball comes near her that's when
she runs--- AWAY from the ball? HMM a little backwards
we'll give her some time though:) ha XOXO

ST. GEORGE:
Brady and I took the kids to visit our family this weekend.
Usually we go down and do family and friends, but this
time we decided to spend some quality time with just the
family!! Thanks mom for hosting us for the weekend. XO

Since school is out I brought my niece Syndal home with me. It
has been so nice to have someone entertain TemeKula
and even Beckham. Babies come in handy when your playing
house. I always had to use my dolls. :)

A morning with the Curtis'

Sweet little Meka is such a big helper! She loves her little brother so much. I woke up to find Beckham had; had an accident during the night gave him a bath. Then while TemeKula was playing with Beckham she sweetly said to me, "My leg is warm" Oh lovely Beckham had another accident this time the not so good kind. AND... its only 10 AM. :) But look how happy they are amidst the chaos.

Hawaii 09'

HAWAII: long plane ride, good kids, sunsets, tropical shaved ice w/ ice cream, soakin up the sun, relaxing, snorkeling, food, sand castles, golfing at the Prince course, chasing fish in the ocean, babies, aunt Jackie, grandmas, family, swimming (TemeKula was a fish every day, she would actually ask to go to bed around 8 pm from being so worn out. I could get used to that!!), freeze tag, talking to Josh, Mothers day devotion from Jim, talking, laughter, friendly texas hold em' tournament, countless hours of nintendo ds (yes all 8 adults have one!), waking up at 4 or 6 am every day, sun screen, sweet slide I bribed/forced TemeKula to go down with a shaved ice, Pali look out, tasting shrimp for the first time, hot tub. THANKS JIM AND BRENDA!! XOXO

US

Sorry about my horrible camera skills. I want to show off my kids though. My mom always gets to hear how fast they are growing up, but now she has proof! :( XOXO

Happy Mothers day to all the mommies and future mommies. I'm so grateful to be a mom. I don't know what I'd do with out my kids. It's been a challenge the last five years, but it's been such a rewarding blessing in my life. I'm also so grateful to have such a loving and giving mother. She's very talented, devoted, and pretty much amazing! She would honestly walk through fire for all of her kids. She's always there for us and always will be thanks mom!! Happy mothers day to my mother-in-law. I'm so lucky to have her son! She's so good to my family and has shown unconditional love to us since day one. She is caring, loving, giving, and extraordinary!! Love you both xoxo. I stole this quote off my Sister-In-Laws blog- thanks Vieve!! "The responsibility mothers have today has never required more vigilance. More than at any time in the history of the world, we need mothers who know. Children are being born into a world where they “wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12) However, mothers need not fear. When mothers know who they are and who God is and have made covenants with Him, they will have great power and influence for good on their children."

Mothers Who Know

ALSO today is my one year anniversary couldn't be better then to celebrate with two kids right? I have a handsome hubby, educated, loves the gospel, loves his family, still kisses his mommy on the lips :), loves to learn new things, will watch law and order svu with me whenever I want to, makes me realize how crazy I am and to just laugh about things, awesome cook thanks to his mom, loves to sleep, loves to read, loves his ghetto car, frugal with his money, he dreams big so he never spends on the little stuff:) This past year has been awesome. We enjoyed our honeymoon in the Bahamas, going to a Real Soccer Game, Jazz game, Bees games, miniature golfing, Brady supported me in my first half marathon and thats real support if you only knew how long he had to wait for me:) ha I'll keep that a secret, Tin foil dinners in the canyon, late night with our neighbors who've become some of our best friends!!, roasting in our apartment over the summer with no AC, cooking together, announcing our pregnancy in TemeKulas pinata with little mints, another year of law school, going to St. George to visit friends anf family, my mom taking us to snow canyon park, hiking, fourth of July in San Fransisco, Christmas with both of our new famliies, TemeKula starting preschool, becoming primary teachers together, loving our ward, the birth of our little boy, I could go on. Thats just our postives we had our fair share of negatives ( I'll spare you the details and leave you with the bliss moments:) trying to adjust and we still are learning so much together, but every trial we endure we become that much closer!! I'm so grateful for my husband he's been such a great dad to TemeKula and now to Beckham he lights up when he sees all of us (MOSTLY ME, BUT THEM TOO:) )Marriage is divine!

" 'No one can assist in this work [unless] he shall be humble and full of love' (D&C 12:8). 'By love serve one another' (Gal. 5:13). Just as service is a natural consequence of love, so is love a natural consequence of service. Husbands, serve your wives. Wives, serve your husbands. Husbands and wives, serve your children. And to all we say, serve God and neighbor. As we do so, we will come to love the object of our devotion and thus be obedient to the first and great commandment of love."

-Robert F. Orton

Brady is done with his second year in law and we're off to celebrate in Hawaii!

I put Beckham on the counter today so I could get breakfast ready and Beckham rolled over. Not such a pleasant roll on a hard surface! (I cringed when I hear him hit the table, he didn't even cry he was just in SHOCK. SAD!)He did it all morning though front to back. I can't believe how big he is getting. I remember a couple weeks ago saying I didn't want him to smile after that life is on fast forward. (That's how it seems with Meka shes so big now!) After his first smile though my heart was melted and with each new development we are delighted to watch him grow. He's 11 weeks today.

video video

TemeKula has been working really hard on her Articles of Faith. I'm so proud of her! I don't remember learning these until I was 12 and she's only 4. She loves to learn them though and keeps asking me when are we going to learn the 5th one mom. This video cracks me up. She is so spunky and thinks everything is so funny!!

BECKHAM'S FIRST KANDID SMILE

I've been trying to capture his first smile for about a week now. It's really hard to make him smile and take a picture at the same time, so it's really off centered, but isn't he so dang cute and SUPER FAT:) I LOVE IT!!

Life is wonderful in the Curtis home! I hate blogging, so you only get a picture update on us once and awhile. (I'D RATHER BLOG STALK) TemeKula is loving life with baby Beckham, with major adjustments at 8 weeks she's loving him here with us and wouldn't have it any other way. Beckham is chunking out, everything about him is round and plump. He's so squeezable and kissable. Brady is preparing for finals again, with one year to go WAHOO!!! Beckham's blessing was wonderful, my hubby did an amazing job. I'm so grateful to have the priesthood in my home. Thanks to everyone who supported us on that special day, especially our family for traveling in the unexpected snow!! As for me I love staying home with my kids, I'm so grateful for all the hard work Brady does so I am able to be with them. I do have to admit two is a lot harder than one. Beckham is an easy going baby and does the usual- eat, sleep, poop and OCCASIONAL SMILES FINALLY:) TemeKula has started to develop into such a lovely little lady, she has her own opinion on EVERYTHING. We're slowly getting used to this, but I'm so used to bossing her around that when she comes back at me with a NORMAL response for a four year old my jaw drops and I want to react in a sisterly way instead of a motherly way. I love her! She's super witty and its fun watching her grow up I just haven't gotten used to the back talk yet. :)
